Ezra 4 Chronology
Enoch the scribe note wrote and prophesied of "Seventy Generations". We then find in Luke 3 the genealogy of seventy six generations from Adam to Christ, (inclusive). The Scripture clearly states Enoch was the seventh from Adam. Not only is this found in Genesis but Jude 1:14 states the same and names Enoch a prophet, (meaning at least some portion of the writing was considered canonical since Jude quotes from it). One needs only to count the generations in Luke 3 to discover a resulting sixty nine generations from Enoch to Christ.

69  +  7  =  76 Generations

1 Enoch 10:15
15. To Michael likewise the Lord said, "Go and announce his crime to Semjāzā, and to the others who are with him, who have been associated with women, that they might be polluted with all their impurity. And when all their sons shall be slain, when they shall see the perdition of their beloved, bind them for seventy generations in the valleys of the earth, even to the day of judgment, and of consummation, until the judgment, the effect of which will last for ever, be completed.

The understanding of this, (and any non-canonical apocryphal works) should be no different than when we interpret what has been deemed as the canonical Scripture. If it be of YHWH then all of the same rules will apply and it will align with Scripture and with the sound doctrine of Scripture. What is "soil" according to the Parable of the Sower? Soil is the earth, the heart of man, 'adam, 'adamah, land, soil, earth, which all generally refer to man, (the "rocky soil" of the Parable of the Sower is the condition of the heart). What then is meant by the phrase "the valleys of the earth" in Enoch 10:15? The "valleys of the earth" are low points of humanity or lost people. We see the very same when Yeshua arrives on the scene in the Gospel accounts: evil spirits abound everywhere, residing in and over people, causing severe maladies, sicknesses, and perversions. These wicked spirits were bound up in "the valleys of the earth" which are the low points of humanity, not only residing in the wicked, but also the sinners and captives whom Christ came to set free, save, and release from the bondage. The "Seventy Generations" then are from Enoch to the first judgment at the time of Christ, and those bound up in "the valleys of the earth" are not the fallen watchers, (ha-Nphiliym) but the wicked spirits of their offspring which were originally the giants, (ha-gibboriym). Was there a day of judgment, according to the Scripture, at the time of the Advent of Yeshua? Yes, according to Christ himself:

John 12:27-32 KJV
27. Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour.
28. Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again.
29. The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.
30. Jesus answered and said, This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.
31. Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
32. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

John 16:7-11 KJV
7. Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
8. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
9. Of sin, because they believe not on me;
10. Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
11. Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

The prince, (archon) of this world, (kosmos) was judged at the cross because for the first and only time; the archon of this kosmos world order had killed a truly innocent man: Christ Yeshua, the only innocent One. As for the next two verses from the Enoch 10 passage, they appear to concern the Parable of the Wheat and Tares, the consummation-end of the age, and of the world, and they are an exact fit to the Parable:

1 Enoch 10:16-17
16. In those days they shall be led off to the abyss of fire: and to the torment and the prison in which they shall be confined for ever.
17. And whosoever shall be condemned and destroyed will from thenceforth be bound together with them to the end of all generations.

The statement "in those days" (plural) probably refers to the "Two Great Days" (II Peter 3:8, Psalm 90:4) the two thousand years between the first judgment and the final judgment of the prince of this world. The final judgment will include all of the evil ones locked up since the first judgment. Those locked up are locked up with the souls of mortals which have refused the offering of Yeshua since the time of the Cross. The souls of mortal men are immortal, (though dead in trespasses and sins) and do become a cage for the devils that inhabit their bodies when the wicked soul exits the physical body forever. The two are apparently bound together as Enoch 10:17 above states because Yeshua implies the very same in the Parable of the Wheat and Tares as well as other Scripture passages which substantiate this terrible fact. If there be any doubt concerning this teaching; Amos 8 and Revelation 18 both speak of the same, (the "basket" of Amos 8:1 is literally HSN#3619 "kluwb" a bird cage or bird trap).

Revelation 18:2 KJV
2. And he cried mightily with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of devils, and the hold of every foul spirit, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird.

The wicked spirits were once the corrupted souls of the giants according to Enoch. This then must be one reason they do not like dry and arid places. They prefer a body just as Yeshua taught in several passages. They know that they are judged and apparently they do not want to enter eternal damnation alone. Therefore it is in their interest to deceive man so as to make themselves a host or a "house". Wicked men now become the "bird trap" for these wicked spirits and so the wicked man ultimately becomes "the cage" according to the Scripture. Just as the Parable of the Sower teaches: the wicked one, Satan, and his messengers are like the fowls of heaven, (unclean birds) which steal the seed of the truth from the hearts, (soil) of men, (the "compacted ground by the wayside") yet the man or woman having a ready heart has the "fertile soil" or "good ground" which receives the seed of the truth and begins to bring forth fruit in the Kingdom of Heaven.

Matthew 12:43-45 KJV
43. When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
44. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.
45. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

1 Enoch 10:18-22
18. Destroy all the souls addicted to dalliance, and the offspring of the Watchers, for they have tyrannized over mankind.
19. Let every oppressor perish from the face of the earth;
20. Let every evil work be destroyed;
21. Let the plant of righteousness and of rectitude appear, and its produce become a blessing.
22. Righteousness and rectitude shall be for ever planted with delight.

Who is the plant of righteousness and rectitude? Who is the olive tree to which we, as branches, are grafted into? Who is the true vine? The Father owns all of it, and the Father is the great "Husbandman" or the owner and Planter. In the olive tree analogy the Olivet belongs to YHWH, he is the Husbandman, the Owner. Yeshua is the Root of the Olive Tree, the True Vine, the Tree of Life, the Plant of Rectitude and Righteousness. Yeshua is the seed which first died, and then like a mustard seed sprouted, (Netser-Tsemach) and branched out, and which became the Kingdom filling the whole earth-land-soil-
'adamah.

John 15:1-5 KJV
1. I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

1 Enoch 10:23-29
23. "And then shall all the saints give thanks, and live until they have begotten a thousand children, while the whole period of their youth, and their Sabbaths shall be completed in peace. In those days all the earth shall be cultivated in righteousness; it shall be wholly planted with trees, and filled with benediction; every tree of delight shall be planted in it.
24. In it shall vines be planted; and the vine which shall be planted in it shall yield fruit to satiety; every seed, which shall be sown in it, shall produce for one measure a thousand; and one measure of olives shall produce ten presses of oil.
25. Purify the earth from all oppression, from all injustice, from all crime, from all impiety, and from all the pollution which is committed upon it. Exterminate them from the earth.
26. Then shall all the children of men be righteous, and all nations shall pay me divine honours, and bless me; and all shall adore me.
27. The earth shall be cleansed from all corruption, from every crime, from all punishment, and from all suffering; neither will I again send a deluge upon it from generation to generation for ever.
28. In those days I will open the treasures of blessing which are in heaven, that I may cause them to descend upon earth, and upon all the works and labour of man.
29. Peace and equity shall associate with the sons of men all the days of the world, in every generation of it."
Daniel 9:24-26 KJV
24. Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
25. Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
26. And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
27. And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

The greatest portion of the debate over Daniel 9 has always been concerning the word shabuwa` (HSN#7620) translated as "weeks" and whether the word is even actually found in Daniel 9:24-26 or not, (technically it is not there). The word is employed in the common feminine gender only in Daniel 9:27 where "shabuwa` 'echad" is rendered as "one week". In the other places it occurs, (Daniel 9:24-26) it is written in masculine gender and phonetically written as nearly identical with the word for "seventy" (HSN#7657 shab`iym) the only difference being about the equivalent of a "jot" or a "tittle" because the block form script "meat" of the letters are the same as HSN#7657. It is therefore probable that the one is a word play on the other since also the two words are given together at the beginning of the prophecy in Daniel 9:24. For instance the word employed by Daniel could have been used only here in this passage and Daniel 10:1-3, (through all of Scripture these are the only places it is found) so as to seal up the book until the time of the end as he was told to do. It has therefore stood as a mystery to modern prophecy minds for the most part, (but it was not hidden to the Apostles and writers of the original NT).

The only way that one may possibly understand, as with all Scripture, is by the Holy Spirit and by allowing ALL Scripture to shape our understanding of the passage. The two words employed at the start of Daniel 9:24 are nearly identical in the Hebrew yet are translated "Seventy weeks" (shabu`iym shib`iym). If the "shabu`iym" in question are in fact "generations" then the decree mentioned in Daniel 9:24 (translated as "determined") speaks partially of the Enoch decree of "seventy generations". The word "shabu`iym" then becomes "ambidextrous" somewhat in its nature as a type of dual-meaning wordplay. On the one hand it would mean "generations" in the sense of a family grouping, or in the familial sense of the word, yet also may be understood in a time oriented function when the reader understands, by the Spirit of the Word, what is truly meant within the text. However, at the same time it also serves for the dual purpose meaning of "weeks" within the same text. If this is the case then it certainly explains why it has been misunderstood for so long.

Cyrus is named a "mashiyach" (Isaiah 45:1) Re: Daniel 11 Prince of Persia

If the transliteration-translation above is correct then it may also explain why Luke placed sixty nine generational names in the Luke 3 genealogy from Enoch to Christ. Yeshua may indeed have answered this very question to Peter, (in the statement concerning "seventy times seven"). Notice he says "UNTIL seventy times seven". In much the same way as surmised herein, the statement suggests a time oriented nature by using the word UNTIL even though the nature of the remarks appear only to deal with forgiving our brethren. In fact the entire passage concerns forgiveness of our brothers: Peter asks "how often should we forgive our brother?" The answer is essentially to forgive all "seventy families" of our brothers times seven; or "UNTIL seventy times seven" which suggests that there are indeed seventy families in the family tree of YHWH. This would make the "generations" of Daniel 9 not only time frames but also generational families or seventy family groups.

Matthew 18:21-22, 35 KJV
21. Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
22. Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
35. So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses.

The implications are that there are some seventy generations in the family tree of YHWH; both the word of the Master here and also according to the genealogy found in Luke 3. If there are indeed at least symbolically "seventy generations" then we should expect to find somewhere in the Scripture where "sixty and two" generations returned to build Jerusalem according to the second part of the decree given in Daniel 9:25. The word translated "determined" according to the AV-KJV in Daniel 9:24, (HSN#2852 cathak) specifically means "to cut off" as in cutting off in sections, as in the distinct sections or ordinances of a decree. Since the decree given is stated to be "cathak" then the second portion or "cut out" is given in Daniel 9:25 with the commandment to restore and rebuild Jerusalem.

Original Strong's Ref. #2852
Romanized chathak
Pronounced khaw-thak'
a primitive root; properly, to cut off, i.e. (figuratively) to decree:
KJV--determine.

From the time that the word or command goes forth should then be "seven generations until a mashiyach, a nagiyd," (as opposed to seven "weeks" which is generally accepted as a 49 year period) and this would explain why the "seven" is purposefully separated from the "sixty and two". We also should expect then to find that indeed sixty and two generations returned to rebuild the plaza-square and city, ("wall" is simply not in the text). Ezra 2 describes exactly that scenario, sixty two generations of family names returned from the time of Zerubbabel to the time of Ezra the Priest, Ezra the Scribe, Ezra the Chronicler.

4 + 10 + 45 + 3  =  62 Generational Family Names

These are "sixty and two generations" and they also returned to rebuild Jerusalem according to the Daniel 9:25 prophecy. They are the same sixty two generations which were foretold to return before the Nagiyd of the Covenant was to arrive. The Chronicler completes the chronology ending the family count at 62 families, at verse Sixty and Two, by filling in two verses with the following:

Ezra 2:61-62 KJV
61. And of the children of the priests: the children of Habaiah, the children of Koz, the children of Barzillai; which took a wife of the daughters of Barzillai the Gileadite, and was called after their name:
62. These sought their register among those that were reckoned by genealogy, but they were not found: therefore were they, as polluted, put from the priesthood.

No doubt it is by design that Ezra 2 closes in a complete 70 verses:

Ezra 2:63-70 KJV
63. And the Tirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there stood up a priest with Urim and with Thummim.
64. The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and threescore,
65. Beside their servants and their maids, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: and there were among them two hundred singing men and singing women.
66. Their horses were seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred forty and five;
67. Their camels, four hundred thirty and five; their asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
68. And some of the chief of the fathers, when they came to the house of the Lord which is at Jerusalem, offered freely for the house of God to set it up in his place:
69. They gave after their ability unto the treasure of the work threescore and one thousand drams of gold, and five thousand pound of silver, and one hundred priests' garments.
70. So the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the porters, and the Nethinims, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
Now therefore we find a curious statement inserted into the Luke 3 genealogy which rather makes more perfect sense in this light. Luke inserts the following statement just before the genealogy:

ALL THE PEOPLE WERE BAPTIZED BEFORE CHRIST CAME

The implications are that all of the families which had returned from the captivity, of those who were interested in the Kingdom of Heaven, which Kingdom had been prophesied to come at around this time with the Advent of Yeshua, and which had their hearts prepared and were willing to be baptized, and were seeking righteousness, holiness, and wanting to be part of the plan of YHWH; all of them were FIRST baptized into the baptism of John the Baptist. Then when Christ Yeshua came, John pointed them all to the Lamb of YHWH who takes away the sins of the world; the Nagiyd-Prince of the Covenant of Daniel 9:24-27.

Luke 3:21-38 KJV
21. Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,
22. And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

76  -  7  =  69 Generations  -~-  Enoch to Christ

And all of those willing in heart were first baptized into John. Then came Yeshua and folded all into himself and Daniel 9 was set in order. The much disregarded Ezra 4 chronology holds the keys to understanding the Seventy Weeks of Daniel concerning the nation as a whole, (except that there is also an individual and personal meaning which are the "Ten Days" found in testimony) also the going forth of the commandment to restore and rebuild Jerusalem, (first given in Torah) and the time oriented implications of those items in relationship to the Advent of Christ Yeshua. The chronology laid out in Ezra 4 is widely ignored by the modern shepherds and their fellow chronologists including even many of the modern Jewish scholars. For this reason there is much confusion and debate over which so called decree is the one spoken of in Daniel 9. Some prefer a supposed "Ezra Decree" of 458-457BC; others rely upon a fictitious "Nehemiah Decree" of 445-444BC, and they all have their timelines and dates set down even to the day. We need not delve deeply into either of these non-existent dates of decrees because they rely solely upon Biblical chronology; albeit, a supposed chronology assumed by those who continue to disregard Ezra 4. Yet there is no document or historical record to be found of any so-called Nehemiah Decree dated to 444BC, nor is there any document, cylinder, stone tablet, or monolith of any sort proving any "Ezra Decree" of the 458-457BC date. Those dates are simply assumed from the perceived chronology of the chronologists themselves. However, if the same chronologist ignores Ezra 4, (or explains it away with an unreasonable, unlikely, and untenable hypothesis) then his chronology bears the results of the confusion which we see flourishing today. Ezra 4 matches precisely the attested historical record. The Persian kings list given in Ezra 4 is attested as historical fact and may be found online even at the least of which reliable sites being Wikipedia.

Historically attested Medo-Persian kings and their dates of reign:

The Achaemenid Empire
550-530 BC - Cyrus II the Great, son of Cambyses I
529-522 BC - Cambyses II, son of Cyrus the Great
---   522 BC - Smerdis (Bardiya), alleged son of Cyrus the Great
521-486 BC - Darius I the Great, brother-in-law of Smerdis
485-465 BC - Xerxes I the Great, son of Darius I
465-424 BC - Artaxerxes I Longimanus, son of Xerxes I
---   424 BC - Xerxes II, son of Artaxerxes I
424-423 BC - Sogdianus, half-brother and rival of Xerxes II
423-405 BC - Darius II Nothus, half-brother and rival of Xerxes II
404-359 BC - Artaxerxes II Mnemon, son of Darius II
358-338 BC - Artaxerxes III Ochus, son of Artaxerxes II
338-336 BC - Artaxerxes IV Arses, son of Artaxerxes III
336-330 BC - Darius III Codomannus, great-grandson of Darius II

"Smerdis" reigned less than one year, (about eight months) and Xerxes II also only reigned one year. The primary kings which are identified in Ezra 4 would be the following:

550-522 BC - Cyrus II the Great (including Cambyses II and Smerdis)
521-486 BC - Darius I the Great
485-465 BC - Xerxes I the Great (the same is Ahasuerus of Esther)
465-424 BC - Artaxerxes I Longimanus
423-405 BC - Darius II Nothus (the time of Zechariah and Haggai)
404-359 BC - Artaxerxes II Mnemon (Ezra - Nehemiah)

The building of the Temple at Jerusalem was halted for 70 years according to Zechariah 1:12. The drought and famine in the land is also evident in Haggai and may also refer to a spiritual drought and famine. YHWH had begun to bring back the people to the land first under Sheshbazzar. Zerubbabel then came 49 years later and the foundation of the Temple was laid. However, a problem arose when the priests and the ancients saw the small area and size of the foundation and began to murmur, to complain, and even to wail. Thus the people were brought back and then while they were in the land it rested and enjoyed its Sabbaths. That full seventy years was not spent in physical Babylon, (in Biblical "philosophy" the children of Israel are the "land"). Tyre also was "forgotten seventy years" as Isaiah prophesied, (Isaiah 23:15) then Yeshua paid a visit to Tyre, (Mark 7:24) as Isaiah 23:17 also had prophesied.

If the chronology allows for the first group to return to the land and then to be documented in the hall of records, (as is recorded in Ezra and Nehemiah) then the first group which began returning under Sheshbazzar took about 49 years to complete, (539BC decree of Cyrus to 491BC in the reign of Darius I). Then would have come Zerubbabel and codified those which had returned by their families and names. Both Sheshbazzar and Zerubbabel are Babylonian-Persian names, (it is highly unlikely that a Jewish man, even a Governor, would have two alternate Babylonian names and thus they are probably not the same person as is purported by the modern chronologists to tighten their chronologies). When Zerubbabel arrived with the last large group of families he took an accounting of all those with him and those which had returned in the years before him from the time of Sheshbazzar to his present time, (492BC). The seventy years which the Temple construction was put off then ran from the laying of the foundation in 491BC until 421BC which was the second year of Darius II Nothus, (instead of Darius I) and that is when Zechariah and Haggai prophesied. With this outline Ezra 4 is a perfect match to the attested historical facts.

Ezra 3:7-13 KJV
7. They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.
8. Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem,
(491BC) in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the Lord.
9. Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brethren the Levites.
10. And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the Lord, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.
11. And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the Lord; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.
12. But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:
13. So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.

Josephus attests to this very same schism which occurred, and it was bad news because what the Scripture implies is that the weeping and wailing, was in conflict with the joy of the younger generation insomuch that both got louder and louder so as to drown out the other until the noise brought the attention of the heathen round about, (the noise was heard afar off).

Ezra 4:3-7 KJV
3. But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the Lord God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.
4. Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
5. And hired counsellers against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia,
(Cyrus II, 550-530BC) even until the reign of Darius king of Persia. (Darius I, 521-486BC)
6. And in the reign of Ahasuerus,
(Xerxes I, 485-465BC) in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
7. And in the days of Artaxerxes
(Artaxerxes I, 465-424BC) wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.

The Scripture then states that Artaxerxes I, when he received the letter, decided to put an end to this ambitious building project until further notice. The decree of Cyrus is not mentioned in the letter because the letter is sent by the adversaries of Judah. The Cyrus decree is now so dated that Artaxerxes I does not know of it. The adversaries of Judah lie about the situation and proclaim that the Jews have even set up the wall round about the city.

Ezra 4:18-24 KJV
18. The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.
19. And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.
20. There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them.
21. Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.
22. Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?
23. Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.
24. Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia
(Darius II Nothus, 423-405BC).

The second year of Darius II Nothus was 422-421BC and is historically attested and accurate. The same date is exactly seventy years from 491BC which are the same seventy years of Zechariah 1:12 and Isaiah 23:15. All of this concerns only the building of the Temple and not yet even the city itself, (which is the focus of the Daniel 9 prophecy). The monies given to Tyre for supplies in Ezra 3:7 were not yet reimbursed with trees, building supplies, etc., because the project was interrupted by the murmurings of the priests and the ancients and the heathen round about who took notice. Thus, Tyre was "forgotten seventy years as the years of one king" (491BC-421BC). Ezra the Scribe sets all of this chronology out before he gives the account of his own arrival, it is the history and record of what had already transpired from his vantage point, (which is the logical thing for an historian to do). Darius II gives the permission to continue the building of the Temple after a search is made in the halls of records and the old decree of Cyrus is then found. Darius II Nothus is so frightened by the news, (because the laws of the Medes and the Persians cannot be broken) that he commands not only the completion of the Temple but sends offerings and supplies over and above the original decree of Cyrus while asking prayer and supplication be made for himself and his sons for the mistake, (Ezra 6). Then we read the following:

Ezra 7:1-6 KJV
1. Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes king of Persia, Ezra the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,
2. The son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,
3. The son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,
4. The son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,
5. The son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron the chief priest:
6. This Ezra went up from Babylon; and he was a ready scribe in the law of Moses, which the Lord God of Israel had given: and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the Lord his God upon him.

Those who claim that Ezra the SCRIBE meant something other than what is written in Ezra 4 are only fooling themselves to support their own chronologies. Ezra the Priest and Scribe, which also probably wrote the Chronicles, (leaving the originals intact as any good chronologist would do as is also evident in the genealogical records of Ezra and Nehemiah, the one being slightly corrected from the other) this same Ezra had arrived in Judah during the reign of Artaxerxes II Mnemon, (404-359BC). In fact, rabbinical tradition has it that Ezra died in the year 323 BCE in the same year as Alexander the Great. The older rabbinical authorities, (cf. Seder Olam Rabbah 30) hold the view that the death of Ezra occurred in the year concurrent or equivalent to what is now circa 323 BCE and thus was synonymous with the death of Alexander the Great.

Josephus also affirms another most valuable documentary evidence concerning this time period when he states that "Sanballat" was contemporary with Alexander the Great and was a key player in the region when the Grecian army came through Palestine. The same "Sanballat" of Josephus is no doubt the same as the antagonist "Sanballat the Horonite" of the book of Nehemiah. Josephus clearly shows that Sanballat was deeply involved in the Judeo-Samaritan politics of the time in question and that it was at the time of the Battle of Granicum, the final Darius, and the end of the Persian kingdom.

Nehemiah 4:1 KJV
1. But it came to pass, that when Sanballat heard that we builded the wall, he was wroth, and took great indignation, and mocked the Jews.

Nehemiah 13:28-29 KJV
28. And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.
29. Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.

This division in the priesthood is much of the focus of "the kings of the north and south" of the early portions of Daniel 11, (the negev-south is Judah and the north is Samaria and its profane newly built temple at Mount Gerizzim) for the priests are sometimes viewed as "kings" in Scripture.

Josephus Antiquities Book 11 Chapter 7:2
2. Now when John had departed this life, his son
Jaddua succeeded in the high priesthood. He had a brother, whose name was Manasseh. :Now there was one Sanballat, who was sent by Darius, the last king [of Persia], into Samaria. He was a Cutheam by birth; of which stock were the Samaritans also. This man knew that the city Jerusalem was a famous city, and that their kings had given a great deal of trouble to the Assyrians, and the people of Celesyria; so that he willingly gave his daughter, whose name was Nicaso, in marriage to Manasseh, as thinking this alliance by marriage would be a pledge and security that the nation of the Jews should continue their good-will to him.

Josephus Antiquities Book 11 Chapter 8:1-3a
CONCERNING SANBALLAT AND MANASSEH, AND THE TEMPLE WHICH THEY BUILT ON MOUNT GERIZZIM; AS ALSO HOW ALEXANDER MADE HIS ENTRY INTO THE CITY JERUSALEM, AND WHAT BENEFITS HE BESTOWED ON THE JEWS.
1. ABOUT this time it was that Philip, king of Macedon, was treacherously assaulted and slain at Egae by Pausanias, the son of Cerastes, who was derived from the family of Oreste, and his son Alexander succeeded him in the kingdom; who, passing over the Hellespont, overcame the generals of Darius's army in a battle fought at Granicum. So he marched over Lydia, and subdued Ionia, and overran Caria, and fell upon the places of Pamphylia, as has been related elsewhere.
2. But the elders of Jerusalem being very uneasy that the brother of Jaddua the high priest, though married to a foreigner, should be a partner with him in the high priesthood, quarreled with him; for they esteemed this man's marriage a step to such as should be desirous of transgressing about the marriage of [strange] wives, and that this would be the beginning of a mutual society with foreigners, although the offense of some about marriages, and their having married wives that were not of their own country, had been an occasion of their former captivity, and of the miseries they then underwent; so they commanded Manasseh to divorce his wife, or not to approach the altar, the high priest himself joining with the people in their indignation against his brother, and driving him away from the altar. Whereupon Manasseh came to his father-in-law, Sanballat, and told him, that although he loved his daughter Nicaso, yet was he not willing to be deprived of his sacerdotal dignity on her account, which was the principal dignity in their nation, and always continued in the same family. And then Sanballat promised him not only to preserve to him the honor of his priesthood, but to procure for him the power and dignity of a high priest, and would make him governor of all the places he himself now ruled, if he would keep his daughter for his wife. He also told him further, that he would build him a temple like that at Jerusalem, upon Mount Gerizzini, which is the highest of all the mountains that are in Samaria; and he promised that he would do this with the approbation of Darius the king. Manasseh was elevated with these promises, and staid with Sanballat, upon a supposal that he should gain a high priesthood, as bestowed on him by Darius, for it happened that Sanballat was then in years. But there was now a great disturbance among the people of Jerusalem, because many of those priests and Levites were entangled in such matches; for they all revolted to Manasseh, and Sanballat afforded them money, and divided among them land for tillage, and habitations also, and all this in order every way to gratify his son-in-law.
3. About this time it was that Darius heard how Alexander had passed over the Hellespont, and had beaten his lieutenants in the battle at Granicum, and was proceeding further; whereupon he gathered together an army of horse and foot, and determined that he would meet the Macedonians before they should assault and conquer all Asia. So he passed over the river Euphrates, and came over Taurus, the Cilician mountain, and at Issus of Cilicia he waited for the enemy, as ready there to give him battle. Upon which Sanballat was glad that Darius was come down; and told Manasseh that he would suddenly perform his promises to him, and this as soon as ever Darius should come back, after he had beaten his enemies; for not he only, but all those that were in Asia also, were persuaded that the Macedonians would not so much as come to a battle with the Persians, on account of their multitude. But the event proved otherwise than they expected; for the king joined battle with the Macedonians, and was beaten, and lost a great part of his army. His mother also, and his wife and children, were taken captives, and he fled into Persia. So Alexander came into Syria, and took Damascus; and when he had obtained Sidon, he besieged Tyre, when he sent all epistle to the Jewish high priest, to send him some auxiliaries, and to supply his army with provisions; and that what presents he formerly sent to Darius, he would now send to him, and choose the friendship of the Macedonians, and that he should never repent of so doing...
If indeed Ezra the Scribe passed in the same year that Alexander died at Babylon, which was 323BC, then it was likely also a JUBILEE YEAR, (if we allow the Scripture to simply mean what it says). We have also a fair amount of certainty that 573BC was a Jubilee from the information given in Ezekiel 40:1 because the text even includes the words "Rosh Hashanah" ("the head of the year") and as it was the tenth day of the month, which is Yom Kippur when the Jubilee is to be proclaimed, and the 25th year of the captivity, and the 14th year after the city was smitten, (573BC). There are plenty of great articles to be found searching the internet concerning the 573BC-Jubilee topic. If we simply allow the Jubilee to be exactly 50 years total and inclusive then they are chronologically very easy to figure on any timeline. The Exodus would have taken place 40 years before the beginning of the counting because the first Jubilee would have been observed from the entry into Canaan at Passover and the second circumcision at Gilgal: "And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year" (Joshua 5:11). Then every 49+1 years thereafter on a calendar or timeline would have been a Year of Jubilee:

1573, 1523, 1473, 1423, to 573BC, (Ezk. 40:1) to 423BC, (Darius II) etc., etc.

From here it becomes fairly simplified as Scripture lays it out in Nehemiah.

404-359BC - Artaxerxes II Mnemon
385BC - 20th year of Artaxerxes (Nehemiah 2:1)
373BC (Jubilee) - 32nd Year of Artaxerxes (Nehemiah 5:14 & 13:6)

The problem arises because of the statement in Nehemiah 6:15 concerning the wall being completed in the fifty and second day. The word "yowm" is singular (not "yowmiym" which would be plural "days"). The Young's Literal Bible Translation correctly translates the verse.

Nehemiah 6:15 KJV
15. So the wall was finished in the twenty and fifth day of the month Elul, in fifty and two days.

Nehemiah 6:15 TUA (Transliterated Unaccented)
15. Watishlam hachowmah b`esriym wachmishah le-'Eluwl --lachmishiym uwshnayim
yowm!

Nehemiah 6:15 YGB (Young's Bible Translation)
15. And the wall is completed in the twenty and fifth of Elul, on the fifty and second day;

Anyone who gives a serious inquiry into the book of Nehemiah will quickly see that there is no way that the entire wall was built in a mere 52 days according to the account given by Nehemiah himself, (also that would not match the prophecy of Daniel 9 of occurring "in the troubles of the times"). The Nehemiah 6:15 statement is likely an idiom; the wall was finished in the 52nd day but the portion spoken of includes ONLY THE STANDING UP OF THE GATES. The entire wall was more likely built in 62 years and the final portion of the wall, (the standing up of the gates into their openings) was completed in the 52nd day of the return of Nehemiah to Jerusalem; in the 62nd year of building the wall. Nehemiah makes it clear that only the doors of the gates are left to be stood up at the beginning of the passage:

Nehemiah 6:1 KJV
1. Now it came to pass when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)

Nehemiah had arrived in the twentieth year of Artaxerxes II Mnemon (385BC) to begin the building the wall. He was in Jerusalem for a full twelve years, (as the Tirshatha-Governor) until the thirty second year of Artaxerxes and then returned to Babylon. He then came back to hang the doors of the gates when the work of the circuit of the wall was completed and all that was remaining was the standing up of the doors into their openings or gates.

Nehemiah 13:6-7 KJV
6. But in all this time was not I at Jerusalem: for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I unto the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king:
7. And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.

If the entire wall project entailed 62 Years then the timeline would be thus:

404-359BC - Artaxerxes II Mnemon
385BC - 20th year of Artaxerxes - Nehemiah comes to Jerusalem.
373BC (Jubilee) - 32nd Year of Artaxerxes - Nehemiah returns to Babylon.
385BC - Arrival of Nehemiah in Jerusalem - The Wall is begun.
385BC subtract 62 Years  =  323BC - Nehemiah returns to Jerusalem.
323BC (Jubilee) - The Wall is completed the 52nd day of Nehemiah's return.

By the following we can know the timing is true:

Nehemiah 13:28 KJV
28. And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.

Not only has Eliashib already served as high priest but the Book of Nehemiah, (which according to the modern shepherds was supposed to have closed the Canon of Scripture some four hundred years before Christ) actually lists the descendants of Jeshua son of Jehozadak to the time of Jaddua. Jaddua was high priest when Alexander came through even according to the famous Josephus story of the dream vision which Alexander had received of Jaddua and the procession of the priests in the white robes as he approached the city of Jerusalem, (Josephus, Antiquities, Book 11, Ch.8:4-5).

Nehemiah 12:10-22 KJV
10. And Jeshua begat Joiakim, Joiakim also begat Eliashib, and
Eliashib begat Joiada,
11. And Joiada begat Jonathan, and Jonathan begat
Jaddua.
12. And in the days of Joiakim were priests, the chief of the fathers: of Seraiah, Meraiah; of Jeremiah, Hananiah;
13. Of Ezra, Meshullam; of Amariah, Jehohanan;
14. Of Melicu, Jonathan; of Shebaniah, Joseph;
15. Of Harim, Adna; of Meraioth, Helkai;
16. Of Iddo, Zechariah; of Ginnethon, Meshullam;
17. Of Abijah, Zichri; of Miniamin, of Moadiah, Piltai:
18. Of Bilgah, Shammua; of Shemaiah, jehonathan;
19. And of Joiarib, Mattenai; of Jedaiah, Uzzi;
20. Of Sallai, Kallai; of Amok, Eber;
21. Of Hilkiah, Hashabiah; of Jedaiah, Nethaneel.
22. The Levites in the days of
Eliashib, Joiada, and Johanan, and Jaddua, were recorded chief of the fathers: also the priests, to the reign of Darius the Persian.

Notice also the above phrase "Darius the PERSIAN" (not "the Mede"). It was at the close of the Tanak-OT Canon that "the commandment to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem" was given by Ezra. It is the last year of the sojourn of Ezra in this earth, and the year is 323BC, even a year of Jubilee. The wall was completed and the people were gathered in the city in the seventh month Tishri.

Nehemiah 8:2 KJV (Rosh Hashanah - Tishri 1)
2. And Ezra the priest brought the law before the congregation both of men and women, and all that could hear with understanding, upon the first day of the seventh month.

Nehemiah 8:4-9 KJV
4. And Ezra the scribe stood upon a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, and Shema, and Anaiah, and Urijah, and Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, and Mishael, and Malchiah, and Hashum, and Hashbadana, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
5. And Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people; (for he was above all the people;) and when he opened it, all the people stood up:
6. And Ezra blessed the Lord, the great God. And all the people answered, Amen, Amen, with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads, and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground.
7. Also Jeshua, and Bani, and Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodijah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law: and the people stood in their place.
8. So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
9. And Nehemiah, which is the Tirshatha, and Ezra the priest the scribe, and the Levites that taught the people, said unto all the people, This day is holy unto the Lord your God; mourn not, nor weep. For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the law.

Nehemiah 8:13-18 KJV (Preparing for Sukkot-Tabernacles)
13. And on the second day were gathered together the chief of the fathers of all the people, the priests, and the Levites, unto Ezra the scribe, even to understand the words of the law.
14. And they found written in the law which the Lord had commanded by Moses, that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month:
15. And that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities, and in Jerusalem, saying, Go forth unto the mount, and fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.
16. So the people went forth, and brought them, and made themselves booths, every one upon the roof of his house, and in their courts, and in the courts of the house of God, and in the street of the water gate, and in the street of the gate of Ephraim.
17. And all the congregation of them that were come again out of the captivity made booths, and sat under the booths: for since the days of Jeshua the son of Nun unto that day had not the children of Israel done so. And there was very great gladness.
18. Also day by day, from the first day unto the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. And they kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according unto the manner.

This is "the going forth of the commandment to restore and rebuild Jerusalem". What is the holy city Jerusalem according to Scripture? It is mount Zion of above, the city of the living YHWH, the heavenly Jerusalem of above, the mother of us all, (Hebrews 12:22, Galatians 4:26, Revelation 21). Who then are the children of the holy city according to the Scripture?

THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL - THE SAINTS - THE CHILDREN OF ZION
THE GREAT CONGREGATION - EKKLESIA

What is our "Sukkah" that we are commanded to build at Sukkot-Tabernacles? It is OUSELVES, our lives and what things we surround ourselves with, our temporary dwellings or "booths" here on this earth, our tent, our body, mind, and soul, and the place of meeting, (mow`ed) where YHWH and his Son Yeshua will come and sup with us if we open the door of our hearts to him. Thus "the commandment to restore and rebuild Jerusalem" was given by Ezra directly from Torah, (Leviticus 23:39-44) at Rosh Hashanah in the year of release and Jubilee, 323BC. But the children of Israel had not fully understood it since the days of Joshua the son of Nun. The year 323BC is exactly Seven Generations before Yeshua the Nagiyd-Prince of the Covenant arrived. This timing is also supported by the Matthew 1 genealogy where there are stated to be fourteen generations from the Babylonian Captivity to Christ, (half of that being seven generations).

Matthew 1:17 KJV
17. So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

323BC - 28AD  =  350 Years  -~-  Seven Generations - 7 Jubilee Weeks
28AD  -~-  10 Tishri - Yom Kippur - Jubilee Proclaimed

Luke 4:13-21 KJV (1 Nisan 29AD  -~- Re: Chronology of Christ)
13. And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.
14. And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.
15. And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.
16. And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17. And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,
18. The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19.
To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
20. And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him.
21. And he began to say unto them,
This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

1 John 2:18 ASV
18. Little children, it is the last hour: and as ye heard that antichrist cometh, even now have there arisen many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last hour.

Continuing forward with the Jubilee theme: The northern tribes of the house of Israel went into captivity in a year of Jubilee, (723-722BC) if the most commonly accepted date of the captivity is to be accepted as correct, (722BC). Ezekiel 4 gives the time of the dispersion as 390 years, (even a day for a year). However, most prophecy teachers mistakenly add the 40 years of the house of Judah to the 390 years of the house of Israel; and yet nowhere are we told to do any such thing. Ezekiel is commanded to perform each time allotment separately, (by switching sides and thus keeping them separate). If we keep them separated then both timeframes fit separate but very precise timelines predicated upon Jubilee information we have from above, which is a given year of Jubilee in 573BC based upon the information from Ezek.40:1, and also that of a year of Jubilee being the last year of every fifty year period, (and although the length of the year changed on all ancient calendars 722-701BC it matters not for counting Jubilee cycles).

The prophesied dispersion of Judah is exact if we understand that the years prophesied in Ezek.4 are MULTIPLIED BY SEVEN. And if the house of Judah fits accordingly then we can be fairly sure that the northern tribes of the house of Israel also fit their respective timeline, (and that indeed 723-722BC is the correct year of the captivity and indeed also another Jubilee year). The Leviticus 26 "oath of the curse" is written to all Israel, (the house of Judah and the house of Israel were one at the time). The first oath of curse of "seven times" is that the chastisement will be augmented seven times more for the breaking of the covenant and the unrepentant heart, (it is all about the circumcision of the heart).

Leviticus 26:13-18 KJV (Seven Times Chastisement)
13. I am the Lord your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your yoke, and made you go upright.
14. But if ye will not hearken unto me, and will not do all these commandments;
15. And if ye shall despise my statutes, or if your soul abhor my judgments, so that ye will not do all my commandments, but that ye break my covenant:
16. I also will do this unto you; I will even appoint over you terror, consumption, and the burning ague, that shall consume the eyes, and cause sorrow of heart: and ye shall sow your seed in vain, for your enemies shall eat it.
17. And I will set my face against you, and ye shall be slain before your enemies: they that hate you shall reign over you; and ye shall flee when none pursueth you.
18. And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish
(HSN#3256 yacar) you seven times more (HSN#3254 yacaph) for your sins.

Strong's Ref. #3254 is to add, augment, or to MULTIPLY.

Original Strong's Ref. #3254
Romanized yacaph
Pronounced yaw-saf'
a primitive root; to add or augment (often adverbial, to continue to do a thing):
KJV--add, X again, X any more, X cease, X come more, + conceive again, continue, exceed, X further, X gather together, get more, give more-over, X henceforth, increase (more and more), join, X longer (bring, do, make, much, put), X (the, much, yet) more (and more), proceed (further), prolong, put, be [strong-] er, X yet, yield.

Strong's Ref. #3256 is instructive correction (a Father to his children).

Original Strong's Ref. #3256
Romanized yacar
Pronounced yaw-sar'
a primitive root; to chastise, literally (with blows) or figuratively (with words); hence, to instruct:
KJV--bind, chasten, chastise, correct, instruct, punish, reform, reprove, sore, teach.

Starting with Judah then Ezekiel is told that the "siege years" of judgment will be forty days and each day for a year. This judgment multiplied by 7 is a total of 280 years, (7 x 40 = 280). Thus the time of the "siege years" of Judah will be a total of 280 years for their transgressions and unrepentant hearts.

Ezekiel 4:1-6 KJV
1. Thou also, son of man, take thee a tile, and lay it before thee, and pourtray upon it the city, even Jerusalem:
2. And lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, and cast a mount against it; set the camp also against it, and set battering rams against it round about.
3. Moreover take thou unto thee an iron pan, and set it for a wall of iron between thee and the city: and set thy face against it, and it shall be besieged, and thou shalt lay siege against it. This shall be a sign to the house of Israel.
4. Lie thou also upon thy left side, and lay the iniquity of the house of Israel upon it: according to the number of the days that thou shalt lie upon it thou shalt bear their iniquity.
5. For I have laid upon thee the years of their iniquity, according to the number of the days, three hundred and ninety days: so shalt thou bear the iniquity of the house of Israel.
6. And when thou hast accomplished them, lie again on thy right side, and thou shalt bear the iniquity of the house of Judah forty days: I have appointed thee each day for a year.

We know that Nebuchadnezzar came through Palestine for the first time in what was probably late 606BC. For this discussion there really is no need to argue the 3 to 6 month period of debate which fell within Fall-606BC to Spring-605BC because we also know from Scripture that for three years, under Jehoiakim, Judah had rebelled and did not serve the king of Babylon. This rebellion was then from either 603-600BC or 602-599BC. Then his son Jehoiachin-Jeconiah, (also Coniah) surrendered and was taken captive to Babylon, (599BC is also supported by the information from Ezekiel 40:1 concerning the 25th year of the Captivity).

2 Kings 24:1 KJV
1. In his days Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up, and Jehoiakim became his servant three years: then he turned and rebelled against him.

Jehoiakim reigned 11 years - 2 Kings 23:36.
Jehoiachin reigned 3 months - 2 Kings 24:8.
Zedekiah reigned 11 years - 2 Kings 24:18.
The reign of Zedekiah ended when the city was smitten in 587BC.

605BC-602BC Jehoiakim served Nebuchadnezzar 3 years.
602BC-599BC Rebellion of Jehoiakim - 3 years.
599BC - Jehoachin - 3 months.
598BC-587BC - Zedekiah - 11 years (until the city was smitten).

If we subtract the 3 years of the rebellion under Jehoiakim then the dispersion of Judah is 280 years to the death of Ezra, and Alexander the Great, in the Jubilee year of 323BC.

606BC-323BC  =  283 Years (subtract 3 years for the rebellion)
283 - 3  =  280 Years  -~-  Judah - Ezekiel 4:6

So then, with the death of Ezra, in the Jubilee year 323-322BC, the completion and dedication of the Wall, and the giving of the commandment from Torah to restore and to rebuild Jerusalem, (the HOLY CITY people) was exactly 280 years from 603-602BC to 323-322BC prophesied in Ezekiel 4 concerning Judah.

Northern Kingdom ~ House of Israel

7 x 390  =  2730 Years dispersion to the four winds with Elam - Jeremiah 49:36.
At the first 390 years Alexander came through in 333BC scattering Elam-Media.

723-722BC (Jubilee Year and Captivity) subtract 390 years  =  333BC
723BC + 2730 Years  =  2008AD (no "zero year" in current calendar)

However, if the "siege year" count begins from 725BC when the siege of Samaria was begun by Assyria then the 2730 Years would run from 725BC to 2006AD:

725BC + 2730 Years  =  2006AD
2006AD + 7 Years  =  2013AD  -~-
Re: MAIN PAGE

Judah also falls into place with the year 2008AD on the overall timeline. The two timelines "reconnect" in agreement at the year 2008AD. They are rectified and consolidated in the adjustment for the 15 years given to the life of Hezekiah, king of Judah, which were taken from the "Sundial of Ahaz" (II Kings 20:6-11).

323BC-1978AD  =  2300 Years
688AD-1948AD  =  1260 Years
688AD-1978AD  =  1290 Years
688AD-2023AD  =  1335 Years
(abridged to literal 24hr days?)

2023AD subtract 15 Years given to Hezekiah  =  2008AD
30 September 2008 (Trumpets)  -~-  26 May 2012 (Pentecost)  =  1335 Days

Please understand I am not "date-setting" anything, it just is what it is now that 2008 has come and gone and the stock markets of the world collapsed on the very same day, (29 Sept 2008, Erev Rosh Hashanah, 777pts, 7.0% US NYSE). Seek YHWH in his Word and see what comes in Ezekiel 5 directly after the "siege years" are ended for the house of Israel: the city is divided into three parts.
